Django Mombasa Code of Conduct

1. Our Community Promise

Django Mombasa is a learning community. We want people to feel safe, respected, and able to participate fully, regardless of background or level of experience. This Code of Conduct exists to protect that environment and to make expectations explicit.


2. Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to everyone participating in Django Mombasa activities, including attendees, speakers, mentors, volunteers, organizers, sponsors, and online participants.


It applies to:

  • In-person events such as meetups, workshops, conferences, and social activities connected to our events

  • Online spaces including chat groups, GitHub repositories, social media, event platforms, and email communication

  • Pre-event and post-event interactions related to Django Mombasa participation


3. Expected Behavior

Participants are expected to:

  • Be respectful and welcoming

  • Be considerate of differing viewpoints and experiences

  • Offer constructive feedback in a respectful manner

  • Respect personal boundaries and consent

  • Help maintain a supportive learning environment


4. Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are not tolerated:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or bullying

  • Discriminatory or demeaning language

  • Sexualized comments or unwanted attention

  • Threats, stalking, or persistent unwanted contact

  • Sharing someone’s private information without permission

  • Disrupting talks, workshops, or discussions

  • Retaliation against anyone reporting a concern

  • Any behavior that makes others feel unsafe or excluded


5. If Asked to Stop

If someone indicates that your behavior is unwelcome, you must stop immediately.


6. Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness a violation:

You may also speak directly to an organizer during an event. Reports will be handled as confidentially as possible.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.


7. Response and Enforcement

Organizers will review reports and take appropriate action to ensure community safety. Actions may include:

  • Warning

  • Removal from an event or online space

  • Temporary suspension

  • Permanent ban from community activities


8. No Retaliation

Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern or assists in resolving an issue is prohibited.


9. Updates

This Code of Conduct may be updated as the community evolves. The latest version will always be published on official Django Mombasa platforms.


Django Mombasa exists to help people learn and grow. Respect for others is a requirement for participation.
